What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Basketball Instructor position at YMCA of Greater Monmouth County?
Overview
Teaching Basketball Classes to children ages 6-13 years old.
Provides a quality experience to children focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises a group of school age children.
2. Planning implementation of age/developmentally appropriate basketball activities following YMCA guidelines.
3. Apply basic youth development principles in working with children through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
4. Actively participate with children in all activities.
5. Insures the proper use of YMCA property and the gymnasium as well as equipment and supplies.
6. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
8.Participate in staff training's and meetings.
9. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
10. Be a role model to students and staff in your attitude and behavior.
11. Maintains positive relations with children, parents, coworkers, subordinate staff and volunteers. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. 18 years of age.
2. Proven experience teaching Youth Basketball.
3. At least 1-year experience teaching Youth Basketball classes.
4. Outgoing, energetic, and engaging.
