Food Service Coordinator – EARLY EDUCATION CENTER
Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position; YMCA of Greater Nashua
The Merrimack Y Early Education Center provides part-time and full-time care for approximately 300 children aged six weeks to kindergarten.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Services Organizer ensures the overall quality and delivery of food prepared and served in the Early Education Center. Additionally, they ensure that the kitchen is a safe and clean work environment. The Food Services Organizer ensures that ordering, budgeting and USDA criteria are met and followed. They are also responsible for monthly paperwork and reporting to the State of New Hampshire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Other duties as assigned and agreed upon.
- Places food orders within budget and menu expectations, tracking inventory and minimizing waste
- Prepares product to meet USDA guidelines including but not limited to cutting, cooking Etc.
- Oversees the preparation and delivery of all meals served in the center
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen ensuring a healthy environment
- Leads routine deep cleans of the kitchen, appliances and surfaces
- Leads meal set-up and clean-up processes
- Organizes food storage, leading receipt of food deliveries weekly
- Places weekly food orders to mee the needs of the upcoming menu
- Willingness to assist with family and center events
- Menu planning in accordance with CACFD guidelines while at the same time, creating age-appropriate menus with an emphasis on fresh produce and wholistic foods.
- Ensure dietary needs are met for all children in the center paying special attention to allergies
- Process monthly USDA claims through Minute Menu
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A compassionate, insightful, and playful spirit; proven ability to interact with children and adults in a positive and helpful manner.
- Minimum age 18
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to be)
- ServSafe Food Handler Certified
- Two years kitchen experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to act and move fast enough to keep children safe.
