The Vanderbilt YMCA is seeking a Sports, Arts, and Movement Coordinator who will be responsible for organizing and overseeing all Sports, Arts, and Movement programming for youths. They will be responsible for class management and supporting the Director with the overall development, administration, supervision, and evaluation of the programs. The Sports, Arts, and Movement Coordinator will focus on maintaining quality programs while raising additional funds to expand programs to meet the needs of the community.

The Vanderbilt YMCA is seeking a Sports, Arts, and Movement Coordinator who will be responsible for organizing and overseeing all Sports, Arts, and Movement programming for youths. They will be responsible for class management and supporting the Director with the overall development, administration, supervision, and evaluation of the programs. The Sports, Arts, and Movement Coordinator will focus on maintaining quality programs while raising additional funds to expand programs to meet the needs of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all program participants in a Sports, Arts, or Movement program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Develop program objectives and goals for each program session.
- Develop lesson plans and curriculum for programs.
- Plan and create new and innovative youth and family programs that meet the community's needs in accordance with the branch's priority objectives and strategic plan.
- Assist in the recruiting, scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of program staff.
- Represents the branch at necessary program cabinets (i.e., YSAM Cabinet).
- Become a certified trainer in at least one youth area and lead training events.
- Create an atmosphere in which all participants can have fun, are safe, and learn.
- Complete program documentation as assigned (registration, incident/accident reports, attendance, and sign-in/sign-out sheets).
- Successfully maintain and continue to improve the quality of all YSAM programs.
- Maintain open communication and an excellent rapport with participants, staff, and members.
- Track and ensure that staff certifications are current and on file.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for information.
- Promotes interest and participation in a Sports, Arts, or Movement program through events, outreach, and informational programs.
- Assist in the maintenance and management of facility equipment in partnership with the branch’s maintenance department.
- Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action in emergency situations.
- Attend and participate in branch and city-wide events such as Membership and Summer Camp Open Houses and Healthy Kids Day.
- Assess the performance and progress of participants.
- Perform as sub-instructor as needed.
- Actively participate in all training sessions and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A degree in physical education, art, art education, youth development, or a related field working with youth, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Current Coaching certification is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth and children.
- Experience working with youth and/or early childhood participants, including knowledge of age-appropriate activities with youth development framework.
- Content expert in youth sports and arts.
- Knowledge of youth development ages and stages.
- Ability to program weekly classes.
- Ability to accompany the participants in learning about supplies/art mediums.
- Creativity, accountability, and flexibility are a must.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Youthservices.net online database system, and basic administration.
- Must be available to work on weekends.
