Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Waterfront: Keep a watchful eye during exciting programs, ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.
- Set Up Engaging Water Activities: Create memorable moments engaging our participants and teaching them
- Administer Life-Saving Skills: Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies
Qualifications:
- Alertness: Your primary responsibility is the safety of program participants. Stay vigilant at all times.
- Professionalism: Maintain a neat appearance and adhere to set standards.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce safety regulations promptly and courteously.
- First Aid Skills: Understand and carry out first aid and emergency procedures.
- Team Player: Foster positive relationships with campers, participants, and fellow staff.
- Integrity: Uphold YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Active Surveillance: Keep a close watch over the waterfront area.
- Emergency Response: Know and follow emergency procedures promptly.
- Positive Atmosphere: Create an enjoyable environment for all participants.
- Safety Rules: Consistently apply safety guidelines.
- Flexible Schedule: Be ready for irregular hours in a rustic outdoor camp setting. Must have flexible schedule during the work week M - F and between 9 am - 5 pm.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- YMCA Lifeguard or certification by another nationally recognized organization.
- Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually.
- Must possess a cooperative spirit to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, Y members, program participants and the general public.
- Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
COMPENSATION AND AMENITIES:
- Starting $225.00 per week plus room and board

- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Will require outdoor work in a variety of weather. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
