What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Counselor - Summer 2025 - Camp Thunderbird position at YMCA of Greater Richmond?
The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking energetic and responsible individuals to work with and engage with Middle Schoolers in our summer day camp programs located at the YMCA Camp Thunderbird for grades 6-8. We are looking for seasonal (part-time, up to 40 hours/week) and regular (part-time, up to 25 hours/week) employees. Summer Camp runs May-September.
DUTIES
Summer Camp Counselors have the opportunity to positively impact hundreds of youth in our community. We are looking for dependable role models who love to have fun! In camp, you will be responsible for the well-being of a group of campers while providing a safe, engaging environment for them through games, conversations, station activities and more. All of this is done in the great outdoors! Counselors are generally assigned a shift in-between the hours of 7AM and 6PM on Monday through Friday, but there may be some nights and weekends depending on training dates and events. All our counselors receive pre-camp training to ensure all staff have the knowledge and expertise to work with their campers. Develop leadership skills that translate into almost any future job!
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates must be at least 18 years old. Counselors must have at least six months of childcare experience. Please upload your resume which details your six months of youth development experience. College level courses and CPR/AED/First Aid are highly desirable.
