Pay Rate: $15.50/hr. Plus a Free YMCA Membership
Soccer - Weds 4:30-7:30 pm Basketball-Saturday 8:45-12:15
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Youth Sports Instructor, the Youth Sports Assistant will assist in leading various sports. The Assistant will also assist with set-up, coordination of games, time tracking and ensure all necessary tasks are complete to run successful games. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist Youth Sports Instructor with conducting league games and classes in a safe manner.
· Ensure all necessary tasks are complete prior to and during game play.
· Assist with developing and retaining participants.
· Maintain accurate records for league(s) and classes.
· Help create a climate that fosters YMCA goals and a fun, engaging atmosphere for all participants.
· Distribute handouts and evaluations to participants.
· Maintain proper care and storage of equipment.
· Attend all required meetings and trainings.
· Maintain all required certifications.
· All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Must be at least 15 years of age.
· This person must be motivated, energetic and able to communicate with and organize diverse populations.
· An interest in people and an ability to work individually with each participant.
· CPR/AED and First Aid certification is also required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
· Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting
· Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations.
· Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
· Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)
· Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.
