This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the program, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. This position assists in managing and overseeing the Youth and Family activities for the branch to include : community and family programming, special events, and parents’ night out. Will also serve as lead child watch attendant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Filing and updating membership contact information forms, camp / parent night out forms, and daily counts.
With the Director, coordinate youth and family activities and programming.
Coordinate family nights, parents’ night out, home school program, special needs programs, special events, birthday parties, and activities for our youth, families, and community.
Work within budget requirements.
Participate in annual Y Partners campaign.
Provide program data and reports as required.
Keep accurate records of attendance and program events.
Follow established marketing and graphics standards.
Model behavior consistent with our core values.
Participate with the Director in interviewing, selecting, and training new staff in youth and family department.
Write the schedule for the Youth and Family Department and assist in approving payroll.
Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff, and follow incident report procedures and policies.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Completion of two years of college or three to four years of equivalent experience working in youth and family programming is preferred.
Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting caring, honesty, respect and responsibility with staff, YMCA members, and program participants.
Incumbent must be a positive role model to children and display emotional maturity and stability at all times.
Must understand the basic concepts of a non-profit organization, as well as the structure of the YMCA as a partnership of volunteers and staff, and accept a commitment to the
Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate / developmentally appropriate program activities.
Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Requires knowledge of computer software application and hardware. Employee must have working knowledge of Windows Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to monitor department budgets and fiscal resources necessary.
Certifications required within the first week of hire : Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Defensive Driving, Child Abuse Prevention, and Appropriate Touch.
Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire : YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED. This position must have the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Must be 21 years of age, have valid driver’s license is required as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Work is performed in a fast-paced office, school gymnasium, and outdoor environments. Position requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities.
Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and / or documents and making changes as necessary / required.
Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
Incumbent must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, as well as, able to manipulate keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils is essential.
