What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Community Outreach position at YMCA OF GREATER SPRINGFIELD INC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of assigned programs of the Association in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA of Greater Springfield. The Associate Executive Director of Outreach and Teen programs plays a vital role in fostering a culture that is welcoming, genuine, nurturing, and determined while also building the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain key relationships and partnerships between the YMCA of Greater Springfield and the community (public not for profit, educational institutions, and private corporations).
- Provides leadership and direction to the association’s teen programs.
- Have a clear understanding of EEC & DPH regulations and licensing procedures for all programs and maintain programs to meet or exceed EEC and or DPH standards.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and program schedules of the teen programs.
- Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff and volunteers.
- Operate department budget to ensure financial stability.
- Pursue grants and foundations to sustain programs.
- Participate in professional staff development opportunities and meetings are assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but may be waived for a candidate with the equivalent years of experience in similar and related field.
- Must have, or be willing to earn, and maintain CPR and First Aid certification(s).
- 4 years’ experience in programming and activity planning.
- Experience working with youth and teens between 11 and 19 years of age.
- Proven leadership skill and a strong ability to organize and lead others.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
