What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Zone Lead, Speer YMCA position at YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg?
The Speer YMCA is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Kids Zone Lead to oversee operations of the YMCA Kids Zone, implementing policies and procedures, curriculum and programming. The Kids Zone Lead cares for preschool and elementary school-age children while parents participate in YMCA programs. As a Kids Zone Lead you will facilitate activities that will entertain children of different development levels in a caring atmosphere. You will work to meet the diverse needs of all participants while demonstrating a personal commitment to character development and the mission of the YMCA . You will provide positive feedback and encouragement to the children in our care in addition to providing excellent customer service to parents and members at all times.
Essential Functions
- Assists with the planning and implantation of monthly curriculum and activities calendar.
- Monitors the monthly schedule making sure there is appropriate coverage for the Kid Zone.
- Monitors staffing ratios to make decisions regarding dismissing staff from shifts when the Kid Zone is less busy and calling in extra help when necessary. Keeps track of daily Kid Zone usages and reports it in the monthly calendar.
- Keeps track of all inventory and makes recommendations when supplies are needed.
- Keeps Youth and Family Director up to date on important staffing or anything regarding the Kid Zone that needs attention.
- Requires all parents to sign in and sign out their child(ren).
- Maintains a professional relationship with parents and the children entrusted to YMCA care.
- Maintains the equipment and games in the Kids Zone with emphasis on cleanliness, sanitation, safety and age appropriateness.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be age 16 or older
- 1 year of experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or youth
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check
