WHAT DOES A DIVING COACH DO?
As a Part-Time Diving Coach at the Y, you'll be the driving force behind our dive team's success! Under the guidance of the Branch's Aquatic Director, you'll take charge of coaching, training, and conditioning the divers, tailoring daily workouts that cater to various skill levels. Your mission? To develop and execute a purpose-driven coaching style that not only enhances technique but also instills a love for diving in each team member. Whether it's a beginner perfecting their entry or an advanced diver tricking out, you'll be the enthusiastic mentor who inspires confidence and camaraderie.

WHAT MATTERS MOST
To thrive as a Diving Coach with the Y, you'll need a blend of experience and skills that make waves! A solid coaching background, particularly in competitive diving, is essential to guide our divers effectively. You'll also need to embrace and enforce the rules set by the YMCA of Greater Toledo and national organizations like USA Diving, ensuring a safe and enriching environment for all. Building harmonious relationships with fellow staff, leaders, and the community is crucial, as teamwork is the name of the game!
Finally, staying ahead of the curve with current certifications in CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration, First Aid, and Lifeguarding is a must, so you can confidently support our dive team members in any situation. Bring your energy, expertise, and passion for diving to help our athletes reach their goals!
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Must have coaching experience with some competitive diving background is required.
- Abide by and enforce all rules set by the YMCA of Greater Toledo, the Northwest Cluster, YMCA of the USA and USA Diving.
- Responsible for the development of an environment that supports the values and mission of the YMCA.
- Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other staff leaders, members and the general public.
- CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration, First Aid, Lifeguarding (YASA) or Coaches Safety Training and Principles of YMCA dive team members at every location attended.
