JOB TITLE: Security Guard
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
FLSA TYPE: Non-exempt, hourly
WORK LOCATION: Zarrow Family YMCA
SHIFT: Opening 4:00 am - 12:00 pm
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the general direction of the Executive Director this position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of participants and staff in and around the Zarrow Family YMCA and delivering quality customer service to the program members. All staff are representatives of the philosophy, mission and goal of the YMCA and its youth development programs. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff by providing close supervision of facilities; control access into the facility and exit ways.
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of youth in the program by providing close supervision of participants in hallways.
- Adhere to and always enforce YMCA policies.
- Patrol facility and ground by foot for the purpose of detecting all infractions of YMCA rules and, if needed, reporting to the proper authorities.
- Maintain safety logbooks in accordance with the facility requirements (security logs include daily sign in and sign out sheets for all participants and visitors).
- Effectively communicate program information to participants and visitors.
- Perform investigations and thoroughly document.
- Appropriately report and document all incidents/accidents immediately.
- Ensure the facility is always neat, organized, and free of hazards.
- Assist with general membership, housekeeping and day-to-day tasks when necessary.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.
- Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.

Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of one (5) years of security experience.
- Working knowledge of security and safety procedures.
- Familiarity with CCTV systems and other security equipment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Preferred:
- Licensed/Certified security guard preferred.
- Background in law enforcement or military experience, along with excellent communication and observation skills
- Current CPR / AED certifications preferred. (Will provide upon employment)
