GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, the Custodian is responsible for providing exceptional janitorial duties to ensure cleanliness of the facility and grounds in harmony with the mission statement and policies of the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans and sanitizes sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, floors, walls, windows, and other assigned areas of building.
- Empties waste containers, which include inside and outside of the building.
- Replaces soap, paper towels and other supplies. Reports supply stock problems.
- Assist in proper disposal of biohazard materials.
- Assist with general pool area cleanliness.
- Performs various duties such as dusting and maintaining entrances and offices.
- Clean and sanitize fitness equipment when needed.
- Reports building problems.
- Performs sidewalk/exterior clean up. Disposes of trash.
- Monitor licensed program spaces to meet regulations. These include preschool and summer day camp.
- Set up furniture for special events.
- Assist with general building setup and informational displays; including the outdoor marquee.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
- Exemplifies the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of job performance and in relationships with others.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Six months or more of related experience is preferred. Must have the physical ability to reach, bend, and stretch and be able to lift or carry 30 pounds. Must be able to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets and instructions. Candidates must also have the ability to carry out instructions independently and to get along with people of diverse backgrounds. Must have the ability to stay alert to potential safety and security problems and to think and act quickly in emergency situations.
