The Greensburg YMCA Summer Adventure Camp is seeking passionate and energetic Summer Camp Aides to support our team in creating a fun, safe, and engaging experience for children. Camp Aides assist counselors in leading activities, ensuring camper safety, and fostering positive relationships among campers. This position is perfect for individuals who are team-oriented, responsible, and eager to make a difference in the lives of children.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support & Camper Engagement:
- Assist in implementing daily camp activities, including arts & crafts, sports, games, and team-building exercises.
- Participate in special events, swimming, and field trips, ensuring a fun and inclusive camp experience.
- Act as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating patience, enthusiasm, and creativity.
Camper Supervision & Safety:
- Provide direct supervision of campers, ensuring their well-being and enjoyment throughout the day.
- Assist in managing camper behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and YMCA policies.
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies, following YMCA health, safety, and risk management procedures.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, health concerns, and incident reports as needed.
Team Collaboration & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with counselors and camp leadership to support daily camp operations.
- Maintain open and professional communication with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily setup and cleanup of camp areas.
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Uphold and promote the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Qualifications
Job Qualifications (Per Pennsylvania DHS Requirements)
To qualify as a Summer Camp Aide for the Summer Adventure Camp at the Greensburg YMCA, candidates must meet the following requirements as outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS):
Minimum Qualifications
✔️ Must be at least 18 years old.
✔️ Experience working with children in a professional setting is preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements
✔️ Must obtain and maintain PA state-mandated clearances, including:
- PA Criminal Background Check (Act 33)
- PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 34)
- FBI Fingerprinting & Sex Offender Registry Clearance
✔️ Must provide a physical exam and TB test completed within 12 months of hire.
✔️ Must provide two letters of recommendation.
✔️ Ability to engage and positively interact with children in a structured program setting.
✔️ Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
✔️ Ability to assist in creating and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote positive youth development.
