Senior Accountant

PAY RANGE:

$80,000 / Annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide leadership to the accounting team in terms of Journal entry review and reconciliations. The main focus on this role is to ensure the financial management of all grants, endowments and other program funds received. This role will provide financial leadership to the operational and development team around the financial performance of our external funding.

Creation of Journal entries, review of journal entries, processing of payroll journals every 2 weeks, creating funding financial reports, prepares monthly account analysis, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, quarterly investment and endowment reporting. Work under the direction of the Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS /JOB DUTIES:

• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepares quarterly investment and endowment reports
• Processing payroll into the general ledger every 2 weeks
• Prepares Profit and Loss Statement and other monthly financial reports for all funding projects
• Meets strict deadlines of monthly and year-end close including account analysis and reconciliation
• Prepares and enter journal entries
• Reviewing quarterly Balance sheet reconciliations
• Meeting with grant or funding owners monthly to review the financial performance and provide guidance to the operational team around the financial management of the funds
• Assists in the year end audit process through the preparation of audit schedules, account analyses and answering auditor inquiries
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge:

• Ability to effectively interpret YMCA mission and goals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to work effectively with staff groups and outside resources
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  
  

Education/Training:

• Accounting degree preferred
  
  

Experience:

• 3 years general ledger accounting work experience
• Knowledge of fund accounting helpful
