Overview
The Maintenance Associate will perform skilled work in the following areas: general maintenance, alteration, repair and construction of equipment and structures; resolving emergency situations. Incumbents in this class are requiring to perform under minimal supervision. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Responsibilities
Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
Learns, maintains facility preventative maintenance software, coordinates us with administration and maintenance staff.
Builds articles and structures of wood (e.g. office furniture, fixtures, room additions, partitions, counters, doors, window frames, sheds, scaffolds, forms, fences, gates, etc.) for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs.
Maintains outdoor facility and camp areas – trash pickup, lawn mowing/trimming and maintenance including maintenance of mower, trimmer and other landscape equipment so that they are in safe, good working order.
Estimates materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects.
Inspects facilities, systems and their components for the purpose of identifying and reporting necessary repairs.
Maintains tools, equipment, systems and/or components (e.g. hand tools, power tools, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
Monitors facilities for the purpose of ensuring the welfare of members and staff and/or minimizing loss and/or liability.
Prepares and paints various surfaces for the purpose of protecting facility property and/or maintaining attractive facilities. Prepares documentation (e.g. requisitions, purchase orders, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
Coordination of duties and supervision of outside volunteer groups, ie UCARC, Gateway and others as it applies.
Member of the Manager on Duty team and expected to adjust schedule accordingly to meet the needs when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Prior maintenance work and experience in the areas of facility maintenance preferable.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas desirable.
Good communication skills
CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment; and kept active.
Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
Familiarity with personal computers helpful.
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
