YMCA OF MEMPHIS AND THE MIDSOUTH PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE
Summary Of Position
Responsible for assisting in preparation and delivery of the meals for our Food Program.
Position Title: Production Associate
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Classification: Part-time
Department: Nutrition Services
Reports to: Sr. Director of Operations
Purpose Of Position
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Food Executive Director the Production Associate team members assist in preparation and delivery of the meals for our Food Program.
Essential Functions
Mission Advancement: Accepts and demonstrates the Y’s values. Demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Recruits volunteers and builds effective, supportive working relationships with them. Supports fundraising.
Collaboration: Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions. Builds rapport and relates well to others. Seeks first to understand the other person’s point of view, and remains calm in challenging situations. Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Takes initiative to assist in developing others.
Operational Effectiveness: Makes sound judgments, and transfers learning from one situation to another. Embraces new approaches and discovers ideas to create a better member experience. Establishes goals, clarifies tasks, plans work and actively participates in meetings. Follows budgeting policies and procedures, and reports all financial irregularities immediately. Strives to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for members.
Personal Growth: Pursues self-development that enhances job performance. Demonstrates an openness to change, and seeks opportunities in the change process. Accurately assesses personal feelings, strengths and limitations and how they impact relationships. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The work schedules may vary per the workload for that day but the typical hours are Monday - Friday starting at either
7:30 am or 9:00 am and ending between 1 pm and 4 pm.

- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes
- Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
- Take and record the temperature of food and food storage areas
- Operate packaging machinery
- Pack and place food in refrigerators for storage or in trucks for transport.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Work a flexible part time schedule.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, speak and understand English
- Some knowledge of food service and kitchen procedures is preferred.
- Ages 18 and older.

7:30 am or 9:00 am and ending between 1 pm and 4 pm.
Work Environment And Physical Demands
- Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.
- Ability to perform tasks that are repetitive
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and give consistent and accurate product
