What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Coordinator, Nutrition Services position at YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South?
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The full-time Operations Coordinator position oversees the daily operations of production and transportation staff in the Nutrition Services department, which includes scheduling, process management, meal production of 28,000 meals per day, and acting as liaison between production, transportation, warehouse and inventory staff. This position will have two direct reports – Production Lead and Transportation Lead.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure quality assurance, such as proper food storage, production forecasting and verifying weekly meal counts, throughout the production process.
- Manage the production team daily so that scheduled goals are met.
- Plan, schedule, direct and execute production activities, such as adhering to menu and daily staff assignments.
- Work with the logistics coordinator to ensure the product is properly picked, stored, loaded and delivered.
- Complete weekly and monthly reports as directed by Sr. Director of Operations.
- Develop Customer Service techniques and accountability for team members, working closely with HR to provide continued education at on-boarding and throughout the year.
- Provide coaching, accountability, and guidance to the production team as needed.
- Procure items from various vendors with direction from Sr. Director of Operations.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have Valid Driver’s License; experience operating commercial vehicles a plus.
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen or production environment preferred, and prior management experience.
- Must have at least 3-year experience in warehouse management or a related field.
- Comfort with and ability to utilize G-suite, Microsoft Office, and excel.
- Must have reliable transportation and communication channels.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
WORK SCHEDULE:The work schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 4 pm with occasional Saturdays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking. Standing. Pushing. Pulling. Lifting up to 40 pounds. Subject to outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from the weather.
- Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current.
- Work involves frequent change and/or interruptions.
- Frequent deadlines must be met.
- Frequent standing for extended periods of time.
