POSITION SUMMARY:
This role supports the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the Senior Property Director, this role is responsible for painting, drywall repair and installation, and general maintenance across multiple YMCA locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Surface Preparation:

Clean, sand, and prime surfaces before painting.

Remove old paint, wallpaper, or other finishes as needed.

Repair cracks, holes, dents, and other surface imperfections using putty or plaster.
Paint Application:

Mix and match paint colors and finishes.

Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.

Ensure even and professional-looking paint coverage on all surfaces.
Equipment & Tools:

Set up and maintain painting equipment, including ladders, scaffolding, and spray tools.

Use and properly maintain various painting tools and supplies.
Work Area Management:

Protect furniture, floors, and other surfaces during painting projects.

Maintain cleanliness at job sites and properly dispose of waste materials.

Adhere to all YMCA safety standards and guidelines.
Client & Team Interaction:

Communicate with YMCA staff and leadership to understand project needs and preferences.

Provide recommendations on paint colors, finishes, and materials as needed.

Work on both interior and exterior painting projects.
- Perform duties at varying heights using ladders and scaffolding.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Previous painting experience required (Prior commercial experience is a Plus).

Proficiency with painting tools, materials, and techniques.

Ability to read and follow safety warnings, guidelines, and labels.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Ability to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb ladders as required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record (for use of company vehicles).
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday-Friday flexible with scheduling, as some assignments may need to be completed outside of normal business hours.
- A company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Occasional climbing, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and stooping.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
