Job Summary
The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a dedicated YPlay Site Lead to provide quality child care and support for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This part-time position is perfect for individuals passionate about child development and creating positive experiences for young people. The role includes supervising on-site staff, ensuring program implementation, and fostering a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervised, safe, and nurturing care for children in the YPlay program
- Implement curriculum and enrichment activities as designated by the Director of YPlay
- Supervise and support YPlay Center Attendants
- Maintain program site, equipment, and ensure cleanliness
- Communicate effectively with parents, children, and team members
- Follow and enforce YMCA policies and procedures
- Assist in training new employees and attending team meetings
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with diverse populations and children.
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; ability to
- work split shifts preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with parents, children,
- and team members.
- Competence in training staff on technology systems (e.g., Alaris & UPace)
Required certifications prior to the first shift:
New Hire Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention training
Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire
Work Schedule:
Part-time schedules vary based on YMCA hours of operations
- Monday - Friday: 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Work Environment:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift or assist children weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Position involves bending, kneeling, lifting, and walking in indoor and outdoor
- environments.
