The Art & Tech Instructor will conduct Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM) specialty program activities and instruction for different age groups. The Art & Tech Instructor will supervise and instruct and supervise youth STEAM programs. Promotes a positive environment for program participants, parents / guardians, and staff.
Salary range starts at $18.00 per hour and opportunities to grow within the organization

Scope and Responsibility
Plans and implements STEAM programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA. Coordinates activities which are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriateTeach the fundamentals of specialty program area by understanding program participant's age / skill levelSupervises a group of youth to ensure their health and safety, and to provide a positive experience for each personCommunicates with and maintains a positive relationship with parents / guardiansProvides day-to-day guidance to staff and volunteersMaintain and promote a fair, consistent discipline code to all participantsEnsure all equipment is accounted for and maintained, notifies supervisor of equipment issuesAssists with development of special events and activitiesFollows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency proceduresSupports the mission and values of the YMCA and Hub as assignedRequirements
Prior experience in STEM educationMinimum of 16 years of age or olderContinuous learner who keeps abreast of industry trends, best practices and safety guidelines in order to innovate on and improve program quality and safetyAbility to quickly build effective and collaborative relationships with multiple, diverse stakeholdersAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed to achieve program goalsChild Abuse Prevention : This position supports the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by :
Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisorFollowing all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of childrenReporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisorCompleting all child abuse prevention training as required
