Childcare – Day Camp Counselor
Hours: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (preferred: 6–8-hour availability)

A Day Camp Counselor is instrumental in making sure they provide a safe, engaging, bully-free and intentionally fun environment for our campers while implementing activities planned for the day.
Requirements
- Must meet and follow state license standards (Texas Department of Safety and Health Services or Texas Department of Health and Human Services) including pass background checks.
- Minimum age: 18 years of age; Education: High School Degree/ G.E.D. or higher
- Previous childcare experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors for most of the day and lead activities, including swimming days.
- Standing and walking for extended periods to provide proper auditory and visual supervision while walking around, carry at least 30 pounds when needed, and go from sitting to standing with ease.
- Supervision, safety, and program implementation for campers while ensuring the well-being of all children.
- Keep an accurate daily count of the children in the program each day and follow the field trip procedure set at staff training.
- Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on the child’s interests and talents.
- Portray a positive role model for youth by maintaining an attitude of respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, and maturity.
- Maintain a strong, positive relationship with the local YMCA personnel to ensure our community connection to that branch. As well as communicating effectively with parents and co-workers.
