What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wranglers, Camp Grady Spruce position at YMCA OF METROPOLITAN DALLAS?
Under the direct supervision of the Equestrian Director, he/she is responsible for the horses, staff, and development of curriculum for horse activities. Food and lodging is provided during the resident care of campers and/or program delivery. The staff always is representative of the philosophy, mission and goals of the YMCA and its Camping Program. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with the Resident Camp Director, Equestrian Director, and fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES / POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:
The Wrangler will be responsible for all programming in the Equine department. They will be responsible for organizing the day-to-day operations at the corral. They will be responsible for the Friday Fun Day activity at the corral, which will need to be done before Tuesday activities start. They will help train staff on how to work with horses to assure the highest quality of the Equestrian Program. They will help get horses ready for each day of activities. They will also be responsible for the health and safety of the horses and maintaining equipment under his/her supervision.
Will report accidents and incidents to Equestrian Director. They must report broken and needed equipment to the Equestrian Director. They are responsible for the quality of activities and the curriculum of those activities. They are responsible for overseeing the cleanup of activities and program area.
Will assist in other duties including, but not limited to: Developing program, overseeing staff and campers, corral clean-up, maintaining trails, weed eating and working with the Equestrian Director to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone who comes to Camp Grady Spruce. Will work a few weekends.
