Position Description
The Youth Sports & Enrichment Coordinator will oversee the planning, development, and execution of youth sports programs and enrichment activities designed to foster physical fitness, leadership, and personal growth among children and teens in our community. This role involves creating engaging programs that align with the WELA YMCA's mission of providing equitable access to impactful youth experiences. This role involves planning engaging events, fostering community partnerships, and leading a dedicated team to create impactful experiences for families and youth. In addition to coordinating, this individual would lead direct services by coaching sports teams and leading youth enrichment classes.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in recreation management, physical education or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior experience working with youth; organizing sports leagues
- Strong written and oral communication skills; knowledge of fundamental sports and age-appropriate motor development skills, as well as rules pertaining to various sports such as (but not limited to) basketball, floor hockey, soccer, volleyball, and flag football; visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
- Current American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or ASHI CPR / AED / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment)
