POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Assistant Membership Director, the gym Supervisor will be responsible for supervising, monitoring and providing direction, especially in emergency and conflict situations, for the gym and surrounding area near the gym. This person will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to connect with diverse populations and serve as a Cause Driven Leader On-Duty for the branch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide gym supervision and role modeling of work as established by YMCA leadership and address gaps in members’ adherence to policies and procedures through coaching.
- Ensure timely communication of service and safety gaps to managers through daily shift reports and to help desk for maintenance issues.
- Deliver member satisfaction by programming and organizing various gym activities, including pickup basketball.
- Ensure member safety and enjoyment by communicating and appropriately enforcing the code of conduct, posted rules and managing scheduled activities. Manage any violations to the code of conduct and complete necessary documentation and communication with those involved.
- Enhance the member experience by providing helpful assistance to appropriate locations and programs when the gym is occupied.
- Serve as a First Responder.
- Be committed to the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee’s Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention efforts as a mandatory reporter.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must be 18 or older. High school education or equivalent is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Proven ability in displaying initiative, good judgment and independent decision making
- Must be able to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflicts professionally
- Must be able to stand and walk a minimum of 5 hours; including frequent stair climbing and lifting up to 20 pounds
- First Responder certification required within 30 days including gaining and maintaining CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, O2 and First Aid
- Ability to direct and coordinate emergency procedures
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and relate to diverse populations.
