What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis Center - Camp Site Director position at YMCA of Metropolitan Washington?
Basic Function and Scope of Responsibility:
Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Executive Director, is responsible for managing an off-site school age child care center, Summer Camp, supervising the staff and for planning, developing and implementing the Association’s child care/summer camp curriculum
Supervisory Responsibility:
Job title to which this position reports: Associate Executive Director
Job titles directly reporting to this position: Group Leaders and Camp Counselors
Job titles indirectly reporting to this position: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, supervises, and implements the YMCA School Age and/or YUSA Day Camp Curriculum and schedules staff in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA
Maintains responsibility for the safety of the children at the site
Supervises the senior group leaders, group leaders, and volunteers in the classroom or at the site
Maintains staff/child ratios by using substitutes or substituting for other staff when necessary
Provides guidance to senior group leaders and group leaders to effectively develop and carry out appropriate weekly lesson plans for daily activities
Effectively communicates regularly with school principals and parents, through newsletters, calendar of activities, etc.
Conducts parent/teacher meetings as necessary
Documents attendance, absenteeism and all incidents for each child in compliance with licensing requirements
Maintains effective communications with the schools, teachers, principals or other host organizations, to ensure their continued support of YMCA programs
Maintains site in compliance with licensing requirements at all times
Completes staff evaluations at least annually and ensures that staff complete required hours of training annually
Plans special events, field trips or programs for school holidays and provides for parent-child events during the year
Maintains responsibility for the appearance of the site, the quality of supplies, equipment and materials used
Attends staff meetings, and periodically submits progress reports to the supervisor
Maintains accountability for the budget given to the site, and ensures full enrollment, accurate payments and registrations
Maintains responsibility for directing the activities of the site at all times
Creates quality child care programs that reflect a positive image of the YMCA and its services to the community
Provides positive growth and nurturing of children in the program by meeting individual developmental needs
Creates a warm and friendly atmosphere in which families grow
Upholds the YMCA Code of Conduct
Participates in YMCA activities and events as requested
Attends all YMCA training programs and staff meetings as requested
Supports the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the branch in particular

Must be at least 18 years of age
High School diploma
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test
Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
Must meet the county/state licensing requirements
Must have a minimum of two year’s experience supervising other staff
Must have the critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff and children and have a positive, creative attitude
Must be able to work as a team member
Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents
Must understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to YMCA character development
