Overview
YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is seeking leaders and overnight camp to oversee our residential units nestled in the heart of the Front Range near Boulder, CO. Our Unit Coordinators oversee one of three resident camper units, ranging from ages 7-9 years, 10-12 years, or 13-17 years. Unit camper capacities may range from 50-100 campers on a weekly basis. Unit Coordinators are responsible for supporting camp counselors in the camper and programming experience.
Pay Rate: $475.00/week. This position requires you to live at camp. Room and board are included.

Responsibilities
- Supervises a unit with up to 20 camp counselors and 100 resident campers with the support of the leadership team.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance and effectiveness, including daily check-ins and one-on-one feedback sessions with the support of other leadership team members.
- Reports directly to the Assistant Resident Camp Director.
- Oversee programming facilitated by camp counselors, including hiking and STEM programming, arts and crafts, archery, outdoor skills, and mountain biking.
- Lives in yurt accommodations with other leadership staff members.
- Works closely with the Program Director to deliver high quality evening programs.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all campers under their supervision, including maintaining appropriate staff to camper ratios as required.
- Maintain a professional presence for YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake through appropriate staff and camper interactions and adheres to Associations and Camps codes of conduct.
- Attends all scheduled bus chaperone assignments on check-in and check-out days.
- Attend all required staff meetings on time.
- Adheres to program standards and expectations including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Models’ relationship-building skills for campers and staff.
- Problem solves, communicates, and documents camper behavioral issues as they arise, and passes them off to leadership staff members as needed.
- Incorporate the mission, philosophy, and 5 core values of the YMCA of Northern Colorado in all communication with participants and staff-members.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children ages 7-17 years preferred.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor skills, archery, arts and crafts, field sports, hiking, outdoor education, mountain biking.
- Completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, Staff Training, WFA, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens. (We provide this as part of staff training week)
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
