What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Site Coordinator position at YMCA of Northern Utah?
- Manage, direct and coordinate school age enrichment programs and day camps. Ensure high quality programs and help to establish new program activities
- Train, schedule and supervise staff as needed. Assist Youth Development Director in reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensure that program standards are met and safety procedures followed
- Maintain state child care licensing standards at assigned site. Respond to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
- Collaborate with Youth Development Director to create and evaluate successful youth programs for school year and summer day camp sites, to include curriculum and/or lesson development and assessments for students
- Mentor site staff to ensure quality programs throughout the year
- Work with Youth Development Director and/or Associate Director to create an engaging day camp at assigned program locations
- This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year or more of college preferred.
- 21 years of age or older.
- One or more years’ experience working with children in a summer/day camp setting.
- Current Department of Child Care Licensing approved CPR/First Aid (must include infant/child
- Previous experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: outdoor living, arts and crafts, hiking, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, or other camp related activities
- Demonstrated experience in relationship building and communicating with a diverse population. Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making
- Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency
