Description

Under the direction the Membership Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, a Y Kids Zone Rep is responsible for supervising and leading activities to engage children in play and learning, while ensuring standards of health and safety are met.
Schedule: Morning & evening shifts available.
Monday through Saturday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Monday through Thursday 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Responsibilities include:
- Lead educational, age-appropriate and Christian-valued activities for children ages 6 weeks-12 years
- Maintain health, safety and cleanliness standards of Kids Zone
- Provide superior customer service to members and their children
- Implement assigned programming
- Maintain accurate records relating to attendance
- Provide care and supervision of children in Kids Zone with emphasis on overall safety and wellness
- Communicate appropriately with other staff members in a positive manner
- Attend staff meetings and complete all required trainings
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Location (Branch): Statesville Family YMCA
Qualifications
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience working with children or in a related field preferred
- Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule
- Capable of working as a team player
- Ability to maintain safe environment
- Obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment (training is provided)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
- Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, and walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff and parents
- Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children
Performance may be measured by:
- The safety of all children in the assigned area
- The feedback from participants, parents, and Y leadership
- The pleasant environment and smooth operation of the Kids Zone program
