Description
The YMCA of Orange County has an opening for a Transitional Kinder Lead Teacher in the La Habra area. The Transitional Kinder Lead Teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive controlled environment while meeting the needs of all children. Assist in planning and carrying out a curriculum based upon the needs and interests of preschool aged children. This includes general supervision to ensure safety, assisting with program areas and general maintenance.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide supervision and set and maintain limits for children using positive reinforcement.
- Assist with training and evaluation of staff.
- Treat children, parents, and staff with dignity and respect.
- Maintain a clean environment; be responsible for maintenance of equipment & supplies.
- Maintain good public relations with parents and communicate with the Childcare Director.
- Assist with Parent Advisory Council meetings and maintain positive relationships with school representatives.
- Ensure the health and safety of all children, including following reporting and release procedures of children.
- Demonstrate and teach the character development values of respect, responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness and citizenship.
- Follow & enforce safety regulations & other YMCA, school, and Licensing Title 22 policies and procedures or ASES procedures.
- Oversee program operations and may supervise staff when Childcare Director or Assistant Director is absent.
- Assist with YMCA Member Involvement program and annual YMCA Campaign.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.
Education & Certification:
- 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education. 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, Music. Pediatric (EMSA) First Aid and Pediatric (EMSA) CPR certifications required within 60 days of employment. 15-hour preventative health practice certifications within 90 days of employment. Complete YMCA Core trainings within first 60 days of employment.
- ASES Sites 48 college units or passing a proficiency exam prior to hire.
Experience & Background:
- Must be 18 years of age with two years of experience working with children in a group environment required.
- Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Salary : $19 - $22
