What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Assistant position at YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties?
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Summer Day Camp Assistant to join our team.

As a Day Camp Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Youth Program Director in the overall administration and operation of the Y's summer Day Camp program.
If hired for this position, you will be expected to help with planning and implementing daily camp activities, ensure equipment is properly maintained, track accident and incident reports, monitor camp rosters, and lead parent communication to help provide a safe and fun environment for camp participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track Camper Information Forms and coordinate with Director/Coordinators of outstanding forms.
- Track cancellations and late additions.
- Ensure Camp Group rosters are ready each Monday (All Week and Itty Bitty) and each Tuesday (Mid-Week)
- Coordinate with CIT Counselor for CIT1 Camp Group assignments.
- Coordinate with Youth Director/Coordinator for Counselor assignments for Camp Groups.
- Specialty Camp (SC) registration monitoring and rosters.
- Specialty Camp roster adjustments and changes.
- Coordinate all parent communication and attend to all parent concerns ensuring appropriate communication and follow up.
- Follow up on accident/incident reports.
- Assist director with weekly camp staff meetings for Camp Group and Specialty Camp items.
- Assist in the facilitation camper check in/check out.

- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required. One year of Summer Day Camp experience.
- Positive and respectful attitude required.
- Previous experience with children and diverse populations is needed.
- Must be comfortable and willing to speak/communicate with members and participants in-person, over the phone and via email.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) and other computer programs as needed to complete assigned duties.
- Knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
