Day to day as a Aquatics Manager

Under the guidance of the Branch Center Manager, you'll have the chance to create and implement engaging aquatic programs while ensuring the safety and fun of all participants. Your responsibilities will include supervising and developing a vibrant team of lifeguards and swim instructors, ensuring they shine in providing excellent care and support to members, families, and teens. You'll also coordinate swim lesson scheduling, handle payroll, and maintain the aquatics areas, all while balancing the joy of engaging with our community.

What we're looking for in a Aquatics Manager
To excel as the Aquatics Manager at the YMCA of Reading & Berks County, you'll need a blend of experience, knowledge, and interpersonal skills. With a strong background in program development and management (3-5 years preferable), your expertise in aquatics programming will be your guiding star. A four-year degree in a related field is a bonus, along with appropriate aquatic certifications, including Lifeguard Certification and CPR for Professional Rescuer.
You'll also need to possess a proactive mindset, excellent judgment, and the ability to make independent decisions. Stellar written and verbal communication skills are essential for conducting training programs and drafting impactful policies. Knowledge and skills required for the position are :
- Must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of successful program development and management experience. A four year degree in an accredited college or university is preferred. A high level of knowledge and demonstrated competence in the areas of aquatics programming. Appropriate aquatic certifications are required (Lifeguard Certification (ARC); American Red Cross First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer(AED). Proven ability to display initiative, good judgment, and ability to make decisions independently. Able to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills conduct training programs create policies and guidelines. Willing to get lifeguard trainer certification, swim lesson instructor certification, and CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license.
