Stonestown YMCA is seeking full-time Linked Day Program Leader for Jose Ortega Elementary School and Sheridan Elementary School.

Position Summary

The Academic Linked Day Program Leader fosters a supportive partnership between the school day and after-school programs by engaging students during various structured and flexible times. This role focuses on supporting academic growth, particularly for students needing additional literacy interventions, including English Learners, with the goal of improving reading, writing, and math skills. During after-school hours, the Program Leader manages a class of approximately 20 students, providing enrichment activities and homework support. Collaborating with the school's instructional leadership, this position ensures alignment with academic goals and promotes students' success both during and after school.

School Program Dates : August 19, 2024 - June 4, 2025

Job Responsibilities

Student Support & Engagement

  • Manage a caseload of students identified for academic support.
  • Design Individual Service Plans (ISPs) incorporating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) components to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers to support student success.
  • Create incentive programs to foster student engagement and motivation.

Academic Coordination & Intervention

  • Coordinate with school-day teachers to implement targeted literacy interventions.
  • Ensure alignment of after-school activities with school-day academic goals.
  • Assessment & Data Tracking

  • Track student progress through assessments and data.
  • Plan and implement regular assessments and program evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate records for program evaluation and effectiveness.
  • Compliance & Administrative Tasks

  • Adhere to the YMCA San Francisco Child Care Staff Manual to ensure all youth programs meet safety and security requirements according to YMCA of San Francisco (YSF) guidelines and policies.
  • Completing weekly attendance reports and meeting all deadlines as assigned.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Maintain respectful communication with all stakeholders (staff, students, parents, and volunteers).
  • Attending staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Qualifications

  • 18 for elementary programs; 21 for middle school programs.
  • Associate's degree or higher, or High School diploma / equivalent with one of the following :
  • 48 completed college units (verified by transcript),
  • Passing score on the CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST), or
  • Passing score on a District Instructional Aide Exam.
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge or expertise in youth development.
  • Available Monday-Friday during program hours (9 : 30 am-6 : 00 pm, shifts may vary, up to 40 hours / week).
  • TB Test clearance within last 2 years (required for programs on school district sites).
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in child development or related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience working with elementary or middle school-aged youth.
  • Experience with EPs, SSTs, 504s and all other interventions and accommodation plans.
  • Knowledge of school district reading and writing assessments and curriculum.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages preferred but not required.
  • Work Environment & Physical Demands

    The work environment includes a mix of active, hands-on teaching and focused tutoring. During tutoring sessions, the Program Leader provides personalized instruction to address individual academic needs in a quiet, supportive setting. The ability to seamlessly shift between active, recreational activities and focused academic support is essential to maintaining student engagement and academic success.

  • Salary Description

    The Academic Intervention Linked Day Program Leader position offers a compensation range of $19.50 - $22.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
