- Experience:

- Experience with insurance claims, renewals, and risk management.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of child safety standards, youth protection policies, and transportation safety.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective communicator and team collaborator with the ability to train and influence staff at all levels.
- Familiarity with incident reporting systems and insurance claim processes.

Position Overview
The Director of Child and Youth Safety will lead and oversee all aspects of risk management in youth and child programs across the organization. This role focuses on incident review and reporting, policy updates, safety audits, and training to ensure a safe and compliant environment for all programs. The Director will partner closely with the Director of Workplace Safety, serve as Chair of the Child Safety Committee, and manage key insurance-related responsibilities, including claims and renewals.
Key Responsibilities
- Incident Management and Insurance Claims
- Review all incident reports involving youth and members.
- Administer online incident report system, create and update workflows, and create monthly trend reports.
- Train new management staff on the incident report process and software.
- Investigate serious youth and child safety incidents,
- Submit insurance claims for incidents and injuries involving youth or members.
- Support insurance adjustors with incident investigations and document production.
- Monitor claim statuses and ensure timely resolution in coordination with the insurance provider.
- Child and Youth Safety Oversight
- Chair the Child Safety Committee, driving discussions and decisions on child and youth safety initiatives.
- Conduct audits for all youth programs, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Perform safety audits for camps, transportation programs, and site visits to assess compliance with safety measures.
- Update and maintain youth safety and supervision policies, ensuring alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
- Maintain internal Risk department databases and resources for child and youth safety.
- Stay abreast of Y USA and industry best practices, regulations, tools, and systems for child and youth safety.
- Child and Youth ADA Compliance
- Review and advise staff on program-related disability accommodation requests.
- Training and Development
- Audit training records to ensure all staff working with youth are compliant with mandatory safety training.
- Develop and implement additional training initiatives as needed to address identified risks.
- Train youth development staff annually and as needed on youth de-escalation and general risk management best practices.
- Train youth development staff on YGSF’s ADA policy.
- Program Transportation Safety
- Oversee transportation safety for all youth programs, ensuring compliance with vehicle and driver safety protocols.
- Insurance and Risk Management
- Manage insurance payments, and renewals in collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Support the insurance renewal process by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Maintain and update the Association site list.
- Partnership and Collaboration
- Partner with the Director of Workplace Safety on cross-functional safety initiatives.
- Work with program leaders and staff to implement and maintain child and youth safety measures.
