Mission YMCA is seeking an experienced early childhood educator to serve as Site Coordinator for the Mission YMCA Preschool : 4080 Mission St, San Francisco, 94112.
Position Summary
The YMCA Preschool Site Coordinator works closely with the Child Development Director to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 2-6. This role ensures the successful delivery of programs and services in line with YMCA Preschool goals, while maintaining compliance with State of California Community Care Licensing requirements. The Site Coordinator will assume the responsibilities of the Department Head in the absence of the Child Development Director, collaborating with parents and staff to develop programs and activities. The role includes overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting staff, and stepping into classroom duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer the overall operation of the YMCA Preschool program.
- Develop a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on social, emotional, cognitive, anti-bias, multicultural, and motor skills development.
- Schedule parent-teacher meetings twice a year and additional meetings as needed.
- Support the implementation of YMCA policies, procedures, and preschool safety guidelines.
- Supervise and provide leadership to program staff.
- Step into classroom duties as needed.
- Track and report participant progress through developmental portfolios.
- Coordinate weekly team check-ins, monthly staff meetings, and consultations with Curriculum Coaches and Mental Health Consultants.
- Oversee the purchasing of supplies within budget guidelines.
- Survey the community to assess preschool program needs.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff.
- Ensure program quality and facility meet all State of California and NAEYC standards.
- Support and schedule staff and volunteers.
- Communicate concerns or incidents to the Child Development Director.
- Participate in branch fundraising and support volunteers during the Annual Support Campaign.
- Facilitate Parent Advisory Committee meetings as needed.
- Attend and contribute to branch and association-wide activities.
- Collaborate with all YMCA departments, maintaining a professional and cooperative attitude.
- Maintain records for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- Adhere to YMCA policies, including work schedule and ECE program protocols.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Description
The hourly rate for this position is $38.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
