Availability: Mid-June through early September. Monday-Friday, 4-8 hour shift between the hours of 6:30am-6:30pm (exact schedules vary by camp).
Location: Varies based on camp. Our Day Camps are located in local schools, parks, or within our YMCA branches. This is an in-person position working directly with children and youth in a camp setting.

What you will do at the Y:
As a Camp Aide, you have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children. Your role involves partnering with a camp counselor to lead a variety of activities, ensure the safety of campers, and build meaningful relationships with them. Through your leadership, you will help campers build confidence, independence, and form new friendships, all while creating unforgettable memories. By becoming a Camp Aide, you will have the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, and be part of a team that is dedicated to providing a fun and safe summer experience.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Actively supervise and provide safe supervision of a group of diverse children with another camp staff
- Implement camp program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values in order to meet the intended child outcomes
- Be a positive role model to children and staff in your attitude and actions
- Comply with state and local regulations as well as YMCA standards and procedures
- Interact and engage with children in an age and developmentally appropriate manner, and use positive behavior guidance techniques
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
- Actively participate in all aspects of summer camp
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
- Maintain positive relationships with parents and other staff. Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their children to have a successful camp experience
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 16
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Fluency in second language desired
- Meet educational and experience qualifications established by DCYF (if licensed program)
