Position Summary:
YMCA Camps and child care programs provide youth opportunities to learn new skills while experiencing achievement, relationships, and belonging. Camp Coordinators develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA camp/ summer child care program(s). Working in program ratio as needed, creating a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures. During the off season, Camp Coordinators work closely with School Age Program Staff to ensure high quality school age care program(s) through innovative program development and evaluation for assigned location(s).
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and coordinate the camp programs for assigned location(s)
- Ensure high quality programs and establish new program activities
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed
- Review and evaluate staff performance, develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Ensure program operates within budget and that program fees are collected
- Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas
- Ensure YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed
- Provide for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment
- Maintain proper records/department files
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
- Interact and engage with children in an age and developmentally appropriate manner, and use positive behavior guidance techniques
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
- Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional off-season responsibilities:
- Directs the operations of the School Age Care or after school enrichment program in assigned location(s).
- Fulfill all responsibilities of all School Age Care positions while working in program ratio.
- Ensure a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with state and local regulations and YMCA policies, practices and procedures.
- Responsible for School Age and Summer Camp program support and general administrative duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 21
- One or more year’s related experience as a coordinator or supervisor of child care or camp programs
- Meet educational and experience qualifications established by DEL (if licensed program)
- Provide documentation of current negative TB test (if licensed program)
- Basic computer/typing skills and demonstrated ability to utilize standard office software
- YMCA mini-bus certification, or the ability to obtain mini-bus certification
- Fluency in second language desired

Physical Demands:
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in indoor/outdoor settings. Staff may occasionally lift children who weigh approximately 50 pounds. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. May be required to push or pull large rolling cabinets along linoleum floors with the help of another person on a daily basis, may be required to roll and set up cafeteria tables, may be expected to lift 22 gallon storage boxes. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
