Availability: Now hiring for a part-time, seasonal Lifeguard at our Silver Lake Outdoor Day Camp! Make a difference in the lives of our summer camp youth, while also being able to enjoy the outdoors! Hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm during the summer. Indoor hours are also available in addition at our Everett YMCA location if more hours are desired. This position will be from 6/6/25 - 8/22/25.
Primary Job Location is11405 Silver Lake Rd, Everett, WA 98208
This is a seasonal position that requires a waterfront lifeguard certification. Boating is included in programming, but experience is not required. Lifeguard certified applicants without waterfront credentials must be prepared to start by June 6th to receive training. For applicants without lifeguarding experience please apply as a Lifeguard or Lifeguard Aide at the Everett YMCA Branch. We offer FREE training for all Lifeguard certifications & you get paid while you get trained! Position Summary:
Maintain safe swimming conditions on lake, dock, beachfront, and surrounding areas. Create a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant surveillance of the waterfront and swim area
- Know, review, and follow all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures, complete related reports as required
- Develop and maintain positive effective relationships with all including our diverse members, participants and other staff
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the aquatic area
- Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code
- Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed
- Check the waterfront for hazardous conditions when arriving
- Perform safety checks at appropriate times of the day, as required, and take appropriate action
- Actively prevent and address suspected abuse
- Must be able to remain alert with no lapses in attentiveness
- Must be able to sit, walk or stand for extended periods
- Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals
- Ability to continuously scan all areas of the waterfront with clear vision
- Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations
- Perform other duties as assigned
