Position Summary: Develop, organize, and implement high-quality YMCA Youth Sports programs for our diverse participants. Working in program ratio as needed, creating a safe, positive, and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices, and procedures.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Management:
- Coordinate and oversee the girls' flag football program, working up to 20 hours per week based on seasonal needs, including scheduling games, managing operations, and serving as referee when required.
- Ensure program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
- Ensure YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provide for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
- Maintain proper records/department files.
- Compile program statistics and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
- Staff and Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.
- Review and evaluate staff performance, develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Provide comprehensive orientation, ongoing mentorship, and development resources for program staff and volunteer coaches.
- Develop opportunities for new and existing members to engage in the program and supervise their service.
- Coaching and Player Development:
- Design and lead youth sports camps, clinics, and practice sessions, creating age-appropriate drills and teaching fundamentals.
- Create and distribute coaching materials and practice plans to ensure consistent instruction methods program-wide.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to participants, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Encourage players to set personal goals and track their progress throughout the season.
- Communication and Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents, participants, and other staff members regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates.
- Engage with the community to promote the program and encourage participation.
- Maintain relationships with parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Safety and Equipment Management:
- Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining equipment and enforcing safety protocols.
- Transport and set up equipment for games and practices; monitor and purchase necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
- Special Events and Fundraising:
- Organize special events for participants.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Assist with Program Committee meetings.
- Conflict Resolution:
- Address any conflicts or issues that arise among players, coaches, or parents in a timely and respectful manner.
- Implement strategies to prevent and manage conflicts, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 18.
- One year or more experience as a coordinator or supervisor of programs.
- Experience in coaching or playing flag football or related sports.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills/knowledge required.
- Fluency in a second language preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Passion for working with youth and promoting a positive, inclusive environment.

The full range of the pay grade for this position is $19.38-$30.46.
