What are the responsibilities and job description for the YD Broward - Behavior Assistant, Special Needs, 24-25 School Year position at YMCA of South Florida?
The YMCA of South Florida is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Behavior Assistant. Under the direction of the Behavioral Strategist, the Behavior Assistant is responsible for the on-site data collection; staff, environment, and student observation; implementation of strategic interventions for participants, and modeling of YMCA behavioral strategies and interventions. Additional responsibilities include data input, staff training, environmental modification, and development of student specific materials.
Essential Functions :
- Observe environment, staff, and students to identify need for intervention strategy development.
- Oversee and assist direct-care staff with the implementation of positive behavior strategies by providing support, modeling, directions, and performance evaluation.
- Encourage and support staff development through modeling, shadowing, training, redirection, and recognition.
- Implement staff recognition program.
- Ensure documentation and data collection is completed consistently and accurately.
- Ensure data input and behavior strategies are up to date.
- Document behavior issues and / or incidents daily, as needed. Communicate with families when needed.
- Maintain consistent communication with Site Supervisor, supervising Behavior Strategist, and Behavioral Programs Director of all issues concerning the program site.
- Follow proper emergency procedures appropriate to the site and in conformity with procedures adopted by the YMCA of South Florida and emergency service authorities to ensure the safety of children and staff.
- Monitor and preserve supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Provide regular inspections of areas used by the program to ensure both cleanliness and safety.

The Thirty (30) Hour Training Requirement consisting of (a) Child Growth and Development, (b) Health, Safety and Nutrition, (c) Child Care Facility State and Local Rules and Regulations, (d) Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, and (e) Behavior Observation and Assessment.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening and drug test.
As a Drug-Free Workplace, all new hires must successfully complete a urinalysis within 72 hours of notice.
