Job Title : Camp Counselor
FLSA Status : Seasonal | end of May – mid August with opportunities to extend through fall
Pay Rate : Stipend : $425-475 / week (Sun-Fri) Room and Board provided
Reports to : Director of Camping and Outdoor Education Revision Date : 11-1-2023
POSITION SUMMARY : Learn more than you ever thought you could, about relating to children in a manner that empowers their growth and independence. We’re looking for Cabin Counselors to provide exceptional supervision and live in a cabin and work collaboratively with co-counselors, serving as mentors for approximately 10-15 campers. Counselors will also serve as activity instructors and take the lead for a few activity areas upon gaining experience. All counselors teach activities, but you tell us which ones you’re most passionate about.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Facilitate ropes, target sports, aquatics, and many more camp activities
2. Manage a group of 10 - 15 campers
3. Coordinate with activity specialist and directors on programing
4. Provide direct supervision to youth while teaching and leading activities
5. All other duties as assigned by the director
QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Must be 18 years of age or older
2. Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.
3. This position requires experience working with youth
4. Have or willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, Lifeguard or Ropes
5. Willingness to have fun, laugh, and be silly with a love of the outdoors

1. Must be able to provide a physical exam by a medical provider
2. Must be able to see, hear, and speak clearly.
3. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
4. Must be in good health, able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, climb and work outside in all terrain and weather conditions for extended periods of time.
5. Must be able to comprehend and communicate written and or verbal instructions.
6. Comfortable working at heights and around water.
