POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aquatic facilities through rigorous monitoring and maintenance of pool water quality and equipment. The Certified Pool Operator (CPO) maintains chemical balance, conducts regular equipment inspections, and implements preventative maintenance procedures to support high-quality aquatic programming. Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Pool Water Quality: Monitor and adjust pool chemical levels to meet state, local, and YMCA health and safety standards.
- Facility & Equipment Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of pool equipment and facility infrastructure to ensure safe operations.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of water quality tests, chemical adjustments, and routine maintenance activities.
- Preventative Maintenance: Collaborate with aquatics and maintenance teams to schedule and perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Safety Response: Respond promptly to any safety or maintenance issues, coordinating with relevant team members to implement corrective measures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all aquatic operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Additional Duties: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and perform additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
- Certification: Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is required.
- Experience: One to two years of experience in pool operations or aquatic facility maintenance is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret water quality test results and adjust chemical levels appropriately.
- Safety Certifications: Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training are preferred.
- Personal Attributes: Ability to work effectively in diverse environments and communicate with various groups; must be at least 21 years of age.
- Additional Requirements: Must be capable of working in variable outdoor environments and handling pool chemicals safely.
