About the Role:

In collaboration with the President & CEO, the Director of Development is responsible for managing the successful implementation of organizational philanthropy goals of the YMCA of Southern Maine in order to advance the YMCA’s mission. 

What You'll Do 

  • Help us grow our Annual Campaign using in partnership with our CEO and Senior Leadership.
  • Using a collaborative approach, identify, cultivate and secure significant new donations each year.
  • Support Capital Campaign efforts.
  • Research, develop recommendations, cultivate relationships in support of, and support application for key grant.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
  •  Help us grow Peaks to Portland through event sponsors and swimmer fundraising, in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Supports large donor asks.
  • Creates impactful materials to help potential donors understand the YMCA and how they can contribute to our mission. 

What We're Looking for:

  1. CFRE or equivalent a bonus.
  2. Three to five years of professional experience, with a background in fundraising growth required.
  3. Strong writing skills, in addition to foundation and government grant writing expertise. 
  4. Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
  5. Experience with event planning preferred.
  6. Detailed-oriented, with superior communication skills and the ability to clearly express ideas both verbally and in writing.
  7. Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to be flexible and prioritize tasks.
  8. Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software systems quickly. Experience with fund-raising and wealth-screening software preferred.
  9. Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to travel locally.
  10. A criminal background check is required and may include fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), prior to hire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
  11. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical, sensory and cognitive requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary $80,000 - $85,00 annual (experience dependent)
