EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma, some college is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years experience plus one (1) year pool management.

Essential Functions
- Manages all Aquatic Programs, including but not limited to; public swim, swim instruction, and special events. Conducts swim lessons as needed. May also lifeguard, clean, vacuum pools, restrooms and surrounding areas and assist with other programs as needed.
- Promotes aquatic safety, maintenance standards and guidelines as outlined by the YMCA while maintaining code regulations.
- Schedules staff maintaining proper ratios at all times. Provides accurate and timely reports.
- Reviews and evaluates the lesson enrollment, open swim attendance and services of the Aquatic Department and communicates findings to the Aquatics Director and Branch Executive Director.
- Directs the personnel of the department in their respective responsibilities. Trains staff with safety as the overriding association objective. Implements weekly in-services during summer months. Conducts and documents routine drills.
- Recruits, retains, and recognizes Aquatic staff and volunteers.
- Employs non-exempt seasonal and non-seasonal staff within approved budget provisions.
- Reviews effectiveness of employed personnel and volunteers; Observes individual performance; and appraises its effectiveness.
- Promotes and implements character development in all curriculum, training and supervision.
- Builds and maintains a high standard of customer service for all members.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

- Certification as a YMCA or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (preferred)
- Certification as a YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (preferred)
- CPR for the professional rescuer (includes AED) Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Oxygen Certification
