The YMCA of Southern Nevada is currently seeking enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated candidates for our Summer Camp Supervisor positions!
Under the supervision Youth & Family Director, this position is responsible for the overall creation and implementation of Summer Day Camp. The incumbent assists in the general supervision of camp staff and overall monitoring of daily summer camp operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include The Following:
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Incumbent must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus two years related experience/training working with children ages 5-14 of which one year includes staff supervision experience.
CERTIFICATES, TRAININGS, REGISTRATIONS:
Staff are to attend all Summer trainings required by Supervisor
Working with Children within 30 days of hire
Current American Red Cross Certifications in CPR and First Aid (required)

Under the supervision Youth & Family Director, this position is responsible for the overall creation and implementation of Summer Day Camp. The incumbent assists in the general supervision of camp staff and overall monitoring of daily summer camp operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include The Following:
- ASSISTS with the scheduling and organization of daily camp activities. SCHEDULES camp field trips, weekly assemblies and special events related to camp.
- PERFORMS opening or closing duties for camp programs on a daily basis. LEADS and PARTICIPATES in camp 50% of the time.
- ASSISTS with the administration of camper discipline and communication with parents. ASSISTS with the dispensing of camper medications.
- ASSISTS with the supervision, training, and evaluation of camp staff
- ASSISTS in the general implementation and evaluation of camp programs. INCLUDES YMCA Character Development in Day Camp curriculum.
- CREATES an age-appropriate learning environment, which fosters creativity and individuality amongst the campers.
- FOLLOWS specific YMCA Camp Standard Operating Procedures. RESPONSIBLE for the enforcement of all day camp and YMCA policies and procedures.
- EXEMPLIFIES the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility for staff, campers, parents, members and the community.
- ENSURES safety of all campers BUILDS and MAINTAINS a high standard of member service for all program participants and SERVES as a positive role model for campers and staff.
- PERFORMS all other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.
- Attends required abuse risk management training.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
