POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Sports Instructor supervises groups of children and implements YMCA youth sports, fitness and P.E. activities. This person instructs children in all aspects of the sport, sets up and tears down program equipment, and ensures children are participating and learning in a safe manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1)LEADS and PARTICIPATES in group activities and PERFORMS related skills.
2) FOLLOWS specific YMCA Standard Operating Procedures.
3) IMPLEMENTS program activities and special events.
4) PROMOTES and EMBRACES Character Development and Developmental Assets in curriculum.
5) REPORTS problems/concerns to supervisor.
6) SERVES as a positive role model for program participants.
7) BUILDS and MAINTAINS a high standard of member service for all program participants.
8) PROMOTES safety as an overriding objective in all programming efforts.
9) IMPLEMENTS programs in the areas of Sports & Recreation for youth, teens and adults and families.
10) CONTRIBUTES to a positive work environment.
11) PERFORM all other duties as assigned.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. (or degree in progress)
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of the relevant sport
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Required: Current CPR & First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification (within the first 30 days of hire date - also available through the YMCA)
