POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatic & Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible for overseeing aquatic programs, including swim lessons, water safety instruction, and facility operations. This role involves managing staff, ensuring safety compliance, developing lesson plans, scheduling lifeguards & Swim Instructors to ensure the aquatic department is always staffed during operating hours and promoting aquatic programs within the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work with Aquatic Director to plan, organize, and oversee all aquatic programs, including swim lessons, create monthly calendar, water safety presentations/workshops, 2nd Grade Program, SKURRT pool time, swim clinics, camps, homeschool and other special events.
- Implement structured lesson plans and training materials for swim instructors. Keep organized logs of all swim lesson participants to track attendance and progress. Encourage participants to continue to the next level or wavemakers.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, implement a survey questionnaire for parents and instructors to evaluate the program. Discuss with Aquatic Director if the program could benefit from any changes.
- Schedule, train, and supervise swim instructors, lifeguards, and volunteer staff to ensure all shifts are filled. If a scheduled shift is not covered, it is the responsibility of the Aquatic Coordinator or Head lifeguard to communicate with staff or fill the shifts themselves.
- Be available to communicate with members and staff when the Aquatic Director is not in the facility. Keep the Aquatic Director informed about any situations that might need defused.
- Conduct regular in-service training or workshop sessions to maintain staff certifications and skills. Conduct aquatics orientation with all new employees.
- Promote swim lessons and aquatic programs through marketing and outreach efforts. Keep information visible in the pool area for all aquatic programming.
- Assist in managing daily pool operations, including cleaning, keeping track of daily attendance, ensuring the guards have blank tally sheets.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and training new lifeguards, swim instructors, and swim coaches. Provides First Aid and CPR training. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include CPR; First Aid; AED; and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Attain POOL Certification within 12 months of position acceptance.

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor locations.
