POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The child care staff provides a quality experience for children that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. They will implement and facilitate purposeful activities at the site for their designated group. They support the YMCA’s promise to strengthen community by interacting with members in a positive and meaningful way.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise all children in a designated group to ensure safety.
- Maintain and possess accurate attendance at all times including bathroom breaks and every transition. Conduct face to name attendance verification.
- Communicate and document children’s injuries and incidents according to policies and procedures.
- Use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior.
- Cultivate relationships by establishing a positive rapport with children, parents, volunteers, staff.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment.
- Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility, and care for equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
hire date. - Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Education: Must be currently enrolled in high school or have a high school diploma, a certificate of completion, a GED or be enrolled in and attending GED classes and successfully complete within two years of employment.
