Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager, and in accordance with the Association’s and Branch’s
policies and procedures, the swim Coach provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for
team members.

- Directly coaches at least one group
- Attends swim meets as determined by Program Director
- Assists in overseeing individual and team entries
- Assists in supervising athletes at meets
- Enforces attendance and discipline policies for swimmers
- Assists in meet organization and preparation
- Attends pertinent meetings and or trainings
- Assists in providing educational information to parents
- Attends activities and events as determined by program director

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise
program activities. -
Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals without an electronic aid.

Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.

Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud
situations.

Ability to work in a chlorine environment.

Ability to work in high humidity.

Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees.
- Ability to work with noise level over 50 decibels.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
- One to two years competitive swimming experience preferred
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer; First Aid; AED;
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- YMCA Principles of Swimming and Diving Coaching
- Lifeguarding certification, USA Swimming Background
