Overview
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Association Health & Wellness Director leads the Health & Wellness Department for all branches and/or sites in the YMCA of Superior California. Oversees the operations of the health and wellness department and programs, including staff supervision, budget management, and planning. Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day operation of health and wellness programs. Maintains records, schedules staff, and ensures proper equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Creates vision and standard practices for all branches in the areas of Personal Training, Small Group Training, Group Exercise, and other Health and Wellness programs.
- Develops and monitors department budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
- Compiles program Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in each Health & Wellness program at each branch.
- Directs and develops program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Along with the Health and Wellness Coordinator, this position recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, supervises, and directs personnel and volunteers for the Health & Wellness Department at each branch/site. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Staff include Group Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers, Nutritionists, Health Coaches, and other special program staff as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
- Maintain updated staff procedures & expectations for each H&W program-related area.
- Manages communications for group fitness instructors, health and wellness coaches, and personal trainers. Maintains communication system for continuous program support and efficiency.
- Evaluates and monitors all health & wellness offerings regularly.
- Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- In collaboration with the Facilities Manager, maintains equipment and facilities for each branch/site including purchases equipment, parts, and supplies as required for each branch as well as coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Ensures daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information including social media, email marketing, flyer creation, and grassroots efforts.
- Creates and monitors program registrations in the CRM system (Daxko).
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Tracks and submits all monthly invoices and expenses in a timely manner each month.
- Coordinates any wellness area rentals at each branch.
- Is an active campaigner in YMCA fundraising activities during Annual Campaign and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills in all Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- All other tasks and duties as requested by your supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Associate degree in a related field plus 2 or more years of experience and/or training.
- Strong computer and writing skills are required.
- Experience/skills in budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and tracking of data.
- Staff supervision ability necessary.
- Appropriate fitness certifications are preferred; first aid/CPR/AED certifications are required within 30 days.
- Proven ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular travel to branches/sites expected. (Sacramento, Woodland, Fair Oaks)
- Occasional travel to branches/sites expected. (Grass Valley, Oroville)
- Physical ability to attend and participate in a variety of group fitness classes.
