School Age Childcare Program Director

The YMCA School Age Childcare Program is seeing an experienced childcare Program Director to oversee multiple school age childcare sites in the Hudson, WI area. Excellent benefits package, free Y membership and discounts and more!

The salary range for this position starts at $54,000-$77,500. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

1. Job Summary:

The School Age Child Care Program Director is responsible for managing all sites/programs and for assisting the Child Care District Supervisor with the overall operations of YMCA SAC programs. This position ensures quality experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. They serve as part of the branch leadership team and directly supervise child care staff. The SAC Program Director will nurture the potential of all children that they serve.

2. Essential Functions:

• Manage all sites and programs, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the program curriculum and activities.
• Recruit, hire, develop and supervise staff teams.
• Practice continuous quality improvement, evaluating programs and implementing changes as needed for the site and the Y-GTC.
• Ensure that all administrative tasks related to site/program operations are completed.
• Assist the Child Care District Supervisor in reaching enrollment and revenue goals.
• Manage the department budget in compliance with Y-GTC best practices.
• Serve as part of the branch leadership team.
• Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.
• Work hands-on to meet ratio requirements.

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Child Care District Supervisor. The incumbent interacts with participants, parents, and staff teams.

4. Qualifications:

Required:

• Minimum age of 21.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with and leading youth programs.
• Minimum of one year previous supervisory experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• Commitment to working with school age children in a recreational setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred:

• Degree in education or recreation.
• Education or experience in child development, child guidance, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.

5. Work Conditions:

• Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities which include getting in the water during swimming.
• Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites.
• Perform all physical aspects of the position, including moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
• Must be able to remain alert in warm to hot environment for prolonged period which may include indoor pool, outdoor activities, bus rides, etc…
